The islands will be abuzz with creative activity for the annual Cayman Art Week from 22 to 26 May.
Last year, there was a range of genres on display, from paintings and mixed media to sculptures and metalwork, with 2024’s event expected to be just as diverse.
“Cayman Art Week encompasses the full spectrum of art in Cayman, from young and upcoming artists showing their work for the first time, to serious collectors buying or commissioning pieces of art,” says Natalie Urquhart, founder and creative director of Cayman Art Week.
“The growth of the art market in Cayman allows more creatives to pursue art as a profession and elevates Cayman’s reputation as a creative hub. We look forward to more creativity and energy this year at Cayman Art Week 2024.”
Galleries, studios, and pop-up exhibitions will be open to the public, displaying the work of artists across the islands. There will also be talks, workshops and refreshments.
Each day focuses on a different district, with free hop-on/hop-off buses providing transport between the locations.
To make it easy to find the participating venues, there is also a map of locations which can be viewed on the event website.
KEY DATES
Wednesday, 22 May
Opening night.
Thursday, 23 May
Cayman Art Week West – evening events and hop-on/ hop-off buses along the Seven Mile Beach corridor.
Friday, 24 May
Cayman Art Week Central/Art in the City in partnership with George Town Revitalisation, with evening events and hop-on/hop-off buses around George Town.
Saturday, 25 May
Cayman Art Week East – curated bus tours during the day to South Sound and the eastern districts.
