Police arrested a 27-year-old man for burglary and suspect he is connected with two other armed robberies at George Town businesses.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary at a commercial premises on South Church Street in George Town at about 2pm Thursday, according to a press release issued Friday by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.

The man allegedly took personal items including a mobile phone, which the RCIPS tracked to a George Town residence, where officers found the man, along with the stolen goods and “what appeared to be a firearm”, according to the release.

Officers arrested the George Town man for burglary and possession of an imitation firearm and transported him to the detention centre. Police say they are investigating him for “a number of offences”.

According to the release, police believe he is connected to two armed robberies that took place in George Town last week.
