The Penha Image Duty Free Trust No.1 was settled by Penha Image Duty Free Limited in 2011. The purpose of the Trust is exclusively for the advancement of the education of Caymanians between the ages of 14-25 years of age who are pursuing full time educational studies.
The Trust has previously made grants available to Caymanians who have studied abroad in order to provide financial support to enable them to successfully complete their studies. Previous recipients of grants from the Trust have obtained a Bachelor of Arts major in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina whilst another studied for an Arts Degree from Savannah College in Georgia, United States.
For 2024, the Trustee of The Penha Image Duty Free Trust No.1 anticipates being able to award supplemental grants to no more than two students of up US$10,000 each for up to a maximum of four (4) years of study for a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited overseas institution.
The supplemental grants are not limited to any particular area of study, and are aimed to assist students who have already received a scholarship of at least CI$15,000 from the Ministry of Education of the Cayman Islands for a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited overseas institution.
