GEORGE TOWN, CAYMAN ISLANDS – 23 July, 2024

The range of services offered by Mail Boxes Etc (MBE) just got a little wider with the addition of secure document destruction at its Camana Bay and Harbour Walk locations.

MBE has teamed with Cay-Shred, Cayman’s leading data destruction service, to provide secure document destruction drop off locations.

Individuals and small businesses can now drop their confidential documents into secure locked bins in the stores on Market Street in Camana Bay and in Harbour Walk at Grand Harbour, which are serviced regularly by the Cay-Shred team.

“We feel this is a great addition to both our services and those offered by MBE,” says Cay-Shred owner Mr. Timothy Dailey.  “Since COVID and with the introduction of the Cayman Data Protection Act (DPA), we have seen a marked increase in interest from individuals and smaller businesses for secure data destruction.  By teaming with MBE we are making it easier for these clients to dispose of their documents securely”

According to Mr. Dailey, both he and the team at MBE are very aware of the needs for this service, and to ensure the process is as secure as possible, the two parties have implemented a dual-key system to provide a secure, seamless chain of custody of clients’ documents from drop off to destruction.

“The client delivers their material to us at either of our Mail Boxes locations where it is weighed and placed into a locked bin,” says Lucy Tibbetts Director and owner at the company.  “The bins are secured by three padlocks with Cay-Shred holding the key to two of them and MBE holding the key to the third.  Both parties, therefore, need to be present for the destruction process.”

Mr Dailey notes this system was implemented to assure the client that no one party could open the bin and ensure maximum security and a secure chain of custody from drop off to destruction.

According to Ms Tibbetts, MBE can also provide their client with a certification that the materials placed in the bin will be tendered to Cay-Shred for destruction and a representative from MBE will witness the shredding.

“Cay-Shred routinely provides our clients with a certification of destruction, so MBE is extending this to their clients as well,” says Mr Dailey.  “This will provide the peace of mind that once deposited in the bin, all materials will be securely destroyed.”

MBE already offers a large range of business and personal work solutions and with the addition of shredding to the mix, clients have even more services available, according to Ms Tibbetts.

“With the addition of this service at our new location in Harbour Walk at Grand Harbour, we hope to be able to cater to the needs of customers on the eastern side of George Town,” she stated.

The new shredding service is available now at both Mail Boxes Etc locations.
