Police have arrested and charged a suspected burglar after an employee of a George Town business found a masked man with a crowbar trying to break into the premises.

According to a statement from the RCIPS, officers responded to the burglary report at a location on Portland Road on Thursday morning.

Police said, after being interrupted by the staff member, the burglar had fled on foot before getting into a vehicle nearby and driving off.

The door to the premises was subsequently found to have been damaged to gain entry, the RCIPS said.

“Officers soon located the suspected vehicle and arrested one man in relation to the burglary. The man was searched, and a quantity of ganja was also found on his person,” police said.
