The Cayman Motoring Federation is inviting drivers on local roads to take part in a ‘Smart Driving Challenge’ to promote safety and driving efficiency.

The overall smartest driver can win an award of $1,000, and there is also a $500 ‘Eco Champion’ prize for the most environmentally conscious motorist.

The challenge runs from Monday, 17 March, until Thursday, 17 April.

The ‘FIA SDCxCMF Smart Driving Challenge’ is available on a phone app that scores motorists on their driving in real time, “offering a fun and engaging way to promote safer and more eco-friendly driving”, the organisers said.

“The CMF is committed to promoting safer and more responsible driving in the Cayman Islands,” said the federation’s president, Jane Scaletta, in a press release announcing the initiative. “Through this challenge, we hope to encourage drivers to adopt smarter, more efficient driving habits while making our roads safer for everyone.”
