The Ministry of Immigration and the Ministry of Home Affairs are alerting the public about recent reports involving individuals fraudulently offering immigration services.

These individuals, who are not authorised immigration service providers, mislead persons by making false claims and promises about remaining in the Cayman Islands, and offering other immigration services in exchange for payment, said the ministries in a joint press release.

The release also urged members of the public to exercise caution and to use only reputable immigration service providers.

Minister for Immigration Michael Myles said, “Protecting the integrity of our immigration processes is a shared responsibility. My Ministry and WORC take these reports very seriously.

“Dishonest individuals are taking advantage of those seeking legitimate immigration assistance, and we will not tolerate such conduct.”

Minister for Home Affairs Nickolas DaCosta added, “Our borders are the first line of defence in protecting the safety and integrity of our Islands. Those who attempt to bypass or undermine our immigration and security systems not only break the law but put others at risk.

“We remain vigilant and are committed to working closely with our partners at WORC and other agencies to identify and stop fraudulent activities that target vulnerable persons.”

Both Customs and Border Control Service and Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman “continue to collaborate closely to monitor, investigate and address immigration services-related fraud. Through information sharing, joint investigations and coordinated enforcement actions, both departments are working to strengthen oversight and protect the public from exploitation,” said the release.

People who believe they or someone they know has been approached by an unauthorised individual or has been a victim of fraud should report the matter immediately by emailing [email protected], or submitting a form anonymously online.
