
Police have arrested a 34-year-old man after a string of seven robberies in just four days – six of them along George Town’s waterfront.
A police spokesperson said the man, from George Town, had been detained on 13 Nov. and remained in custody while investigations continued.
He added the service had “prioritised safeguarding the community from these types of incidents” but that businesses should ensure they took steps to protect themselves.
The spokesperson said it was important businesses had “working CCTV activated at all times and to ensure premises can be adequately secured after hours”.
The robberies happened between 10-13 Nov.
The police spokesperson said, “Investigators have found that the perpetrator(s) of these burglary incidents have been stealing cash from the locations and urge business owners to take proper precautions … such as refraining from leaving cash overnight and making regular cash deposits.”
Police also repeated a call for anyone with information that could help police inquiries to contact George Town police station on 949-7777.
