Man charged with string of burglaries on restaurants

A 37-year-old man was expected to appear in court on Monday, 12 Jan. to face charges in connection with a series of burglaries on George Town businesses.

The man, from George Town, was charged with two counts of burglary and one of attempted burglary.

It is alleged the man broke into the Curry in a Hurry food truck on George Town’s Seafarers Way on Thursday, 8 Jan. before ransacking the building and stealing cash and other items.

He is also charged with an attempted burglary at the same place the night before.

It is also alleged the man broke into another restaurant on South Church Street on 5 Jan. and escaped with a number of items.
