The Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association anticipates an exciting February as they prepare to host two significant annual events.
The action kicks off at the Camana Bay Sports Complex with the National Championships running from 14-17 Feb.
The Championships will feature competitive swimming across multiple sessions and age groups.
Sarah Sellars, the association’s vice president, said, “This is one of the most exciting events on our calendar. Our National Championships bring together swimmers from across the islands with some overseas guests this year, we are excited to see the level of competition.
“We invite members, family and friends who enjoy swimming to come down, enjoy the atmosphere and support our athletes,” she added.
Swinging for Swimming Golf Fundraiser
Once the waves have settled at the pool, the focus shifts from the water to the greens for the annual Swinging for Swimming Golf Fundraiser.
Scheduled for Friday, 27 Feb. at North Sound Golf Club, this event serves as a cornerstone of the association’s financial support system.
“This well-supported fundraiser plays a vital role in supporting all aquatic disciplines in the Cayman Islands – swimming, artistic swimming, water polo and open water – helping athletes access the opportunities and resources they need to thrive,” the association said.
“The funds raised directly contribute to international competition travel, development camps, team kit, educational materials and essential resources that allow athletes to continue progressing and enjoying their sport. The impact of this event is felt across all disciplines and age groups,” added vice president Sellars.
The fundraiser is designed to be as social as it is impactful, utilizing a four-person scramble format.
“CIASA is encouraging friends, families and corporate teams to get involved by registering a team or supporting the fundraiser through sponsorship opportunities. In addition to supporting sport, the event offers companies a valuable opportunity for team building and community engagement in a relaxed and welcoming setting,” the association said.
