Cayman Aquatics has announced the roster of swimmers selected by the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee to represent the Cayman Islands at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The 12 swimmers who will compete for Cayman are James Allison, Harper Barrowman, Sierrah Broadbelt, Jillian Crooks, Danny Kish, Lila Higgo, Luke Higgo, Connor Macdonald, Kyra Rabess, Will Sellars, and Riley Watson.
Rounding out the delegation – the largest group of swimmers that Cayman has ever sent to the Comonwealth Games – is Elijah Bain, who steps into the spotlight as the youngest member of the team at what will be his first elite-level competition.
“This historic team marks the largest swimming delegation ever sent by the Cayman Islands to a Commonwealth Games,” said Cayman Aquatics.
In preparation for the Games, Cayman Aquatics shared that the team will attend a pre-competition training camp at the University of Bath beginning 13 July.
“The camp will provide the athletes with the opportunity to train in a world-class high-performance environment alongside international competitors as they finalise preparations ahead of competition in Glasgow,” said Cayman Aquatics.
For many of the Cayman swimmers, this will be their first Commonwealth Games appearance, but Cayman Aquatics president Stephen Broadbelt said, “we truly believe this is only the beginning for this talented group.”
“This is an incredibly exciting moment for Cayman swimming. To send our largest ever swim team to the Games and compete in relays for the very first time shows how much progress has been made across the programme.
“I’m grateful for the faith that the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee have placed in our young athletes,” he added.
The multi-sport event is set for this summer, running from 23 July to 2 August and will feature competitors from 74 different countries.
The 2026 Games will also feature a 10-sport programme, which fully integrates six Para sports alongside the core events.
The sports programme will be held across four different venues and will include swimming and para swimming, athletics and para athletics (track and field), 3×3 basketball and 3×3 wheelchair basketball, track cycling and para track cycling, weightlifting and para powerlifting, bowls and para bowls, as well as artistic gymnastics, boxing, judo, and netball.
