Dear Editor,
Our friend Ian Boxall has passed, and with his passing we have lost one of the kindest men ever to contribute to netball and to the Cayman Islands. Ian gave of himself fully – his time, his talent, his humour and his heart. I remember him well. When he came to us, he reassured us, he strengthened us and he helped make us a success.
He laughed with us, he ate with us, he danced with us, and he called us his friends. Cayman became his home, and we became his people. He embraced our culture with joy, he enjoyed our food with pride, and he treated every one of us with genuine affection.
He contributed with an insatiable heart, always wanting to make us better. He knew everyone, and everywhere we saw him, he carried himself as a true nation‑builder: steady, warm and committed. He really loved Cayman, not as an outsider looking in, but as someone who belonged.
That was Ian Boxall – a friend, a brother in sport and a Caymanian in spirit. His memory will remain with us, and his contribution will continue to shape us.
