Premier Alden McLaughlin is in London this week to meet with leaders of law firms, financial institutions, government departments and U.K. MPs. “This is one more opportunity to tell the good story that is Cayman’s to MPs and Peers,” he said.

The U.K. government must do its best to back financial services industries in its overseas territories, both before and after Brexit talks with the European Union, Premier Alden McLaughlin said Tuesday.

Ministers from the British Overseas Territories will gather in London next week to discuss Brexit, economic development and good governance at the annual Joint Ministerial Council meeting.

The Cayman Islands Legislative Assembly voted along party lines Thursday night to oppose a motion that sought a referendum on whether the territory should accept same-sex marriages. All nine government members opposed the motion, while all opposition party and independent members supported it.

The baroness visited the Sister Islands Monday, stating she could not have “chosen a more beautiful starting point” for her first trip to a British Overseas Territory.
