The Cayman chapter of Meals on Wheels staged its annual Orange You Glad gala on Saturday, and it experienced an uptick in support from previous years. Erin Bodden, general manager of Meals on Wheels, said the gala sold 300 seats and that organizers are still tabulating the returns.
Although retired, Beulah McField, who has been at the helm of Meals and Wheels for the past 20 years, continues to assist with the day-to-day operations of the program.
When the Cayman Islands Meals on Wheels started in 1997, a small group of volunteers delivered food three days per week to 14 senior citizens.
Students of the Wesleyan Christian Academy held a Dress Down Day recently to help support Meals on Wheels.
