The top story in the Tuesday,18 May, 1976 issue of the Caymanian Compass was a ‘Family Fair Day’ to celebrate Commonwealth Day. The official opening address was by Acting Governor Desmond Watler. Approximately 400 people attended the opening, with participation growing to thousands during the day’s activities, the Compass reported.
