While Governor Martyn Roper says hate crime legislation is a matter for Cayman's government to determine he has agreed with local LGBTQIA+ groups it was an important issue to raise for discussion.

One local business owner has pledged a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people behind the violent homophobic attack on two men at the Strand complex last week.

Two men were injured, with one suffering a broken nose, after being assaulted in the carpark of The Strand on West Bay Road early on Monday morning in what police believe was a homophobic attack.

Colours Cayman is calling on the government to include sexual orientation and gender identity in its proposed anti-bullying legislation.
