Plans to reopen Sunshine Hotel & Suites in stages during a major redevelopment have been abandoned in favour of a full reopening later this year.

The Westin resort has laid off just over half of its staff amid the continued impact of the coronavirus on tourism in the Cayman Islands.

“We broke records in January, February and March,” says Jim Mauer, the new manager at the Westin hotel on Seven Mile Beach.
