Cayman golfer Justin Hastings narrowly missed a bronze medal at the Latin American Amateur Championship, held at Santa Maria Golf Club in Panama City, Panama.

Teenage golfer Aaron Jarvis became the first Caymanian in history to qualify for the US Masters after a thrilling final hole victory at the Latin American Amateur Golf championship on Sunday.

Held Jan. 17-20 at the picturesque yet challenging Pete Dye-designed Teeth of the Dog course at Casa de Campo, in the Dominican Republic, the 5th Latin American Amateur Championship saw a field of 102 of the region’s top amateur golfers battling for a place in the Masters.

Two of Caymans’ top amateur golfers Payten Wight and Justin Hastings traveled around 4,000 miles to Santiago Chile to play in the 4th Latin American Amateur Championship on Jan. 20-23.
