Government and opposition are negotiating once again over the reform of the Legal Practitioners Law. The Legal Services Bill seeks to replace the law and introduce a Legal Services Council to regulate the practice of Cayman Islands law.

A new Legal Services Bill aimed at implementing a new regulatory system for legal professionals has been published.

The Cayman Islands anti-money laundering and terrorist financing regime underwent significant changes in 2019 and Attorney General Samuel Bulgin has said it will continue this year.

Chief Justice Anthony Smellie said the struggle continues for courtroom space as he addressed the formal opening of Grand Court.
