The Cayman National Museum's vibrant Mango Fest was filled with music, competitions and the best of Caymanian mango cuisine.

The Cayman Islands National Museum is set to host its annual Mango Fest this Saturday, 5 July, on the George Town waterfront.

Mangoes aren't native to the Caribbean, and it was only in recent decades that Cayman began to cultivate such an abundant variety of the fruit.

With a dismal first crop this year, it seemed there was not a lot to celebrate at the Mango Season at the Museum event on Saturday, July 14.

The mangoes at Jackson Collins’s produce stand looked lonely this week. Only a few green, fist-sized fruit lay in the bottom of a plastic crate that could easily have held 50 or more.
