The Grand Cayman Parrot, along with the Cayman Brac Parrot, are endemic to the Cayman Islands and protected species. Recently Brianna Solomon was surprised to find one such parrot joined her and her dog on a daily afternoon walk.

Seventeen years ago, an offer of a $1,000 reward – complete with a 'wanted' poster – was made to anyone who located a pretty blue flowering herb, known locally as Cayman sage, which was thought to be extinct.

The death of a young nurse shark, which was recently spotted at the Royal Palms Ledges dive site, has prompted a Department of Environment warning for the public to refrain from harming the animals as it is considered a criminal offence.
