“It’s very rough, it’s very hard.” This has been the refrain for many tour operators who are now feeling the pinch as the Cayman goes into lockdown mode in mere days.

We believe the government could alleviate much of its FOI backlog, costs and drain on its personnel resources if it adopted a much more transparent, government-in-the-sunshine, open-records approach.

An appeal on a public records request for data on how many taxi drivers work for government has been denied by Ombudsman Sandy Hermiston, who ruled on Friday that having the Public Transportation Unit retrieve such information would be an unreasonable diversion of its resources.
