A man who broke into an elderly couple’s home, tied them to chairs and robbed them at gunpoint of tens of thousands of dollars' worth of cash and jewellery, was set free by the Grand Court after giving evidence against his fellow defendants.

Shane Connor, 44, has been convicted of assaulting and robbing an elderly couple at gunpoint during an early morning home invasion, which was the culmination of a late-night crime spree in 2017.

The Grand Court trial has begun for Shane Connor, who is accused of breaking into an elderly couple’s home in Prospect while they slept and tying them to a chair before robbing them at gunpoint.

Shane Connor, of East End, on Monday abandoned his application to dismiss charges of aggravated burglary, robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, attempted burglary, theft and damage to property.

A man accused of breaking into a Prospect home has been acquitted of the charge. This after the prosecution offered no evidence Monday in Grand Court.
