With swimming slated to become Cayman’s top focus sport, Brett Fraser and Jordan Crooks – two of the nation’s greatest swimmers – have expressed support for the decision that has drawn mixed reactions from the community.

Among the activities at this year’s Flowers Sea Swim was a mini swim involving 32 Caymanian children who swam their first event in open water, a product of the Swim Free programme, which was launched nearly one year ago.

Participants in what has become one of the most highly anticipated athletic events of the year, the Flowers Sea Swim, did so for a reason.

Loved the Swim Free story and yet another sterling effort by the Flowers Family to encourage all to learn to swim.

When he was 10 years old, 'Fast and Furious' actor Sung Kang nearly drowned in a lake; motivated by that traumatic event, he learned to swim and eventually became a competitive swimmer.

The Flowers family's love of the sea is well-known having hosted the Cayman Islands' signature swimming event - Flowers Sea Swim for more than three decades and now they are taking that passion for the ocean to local schools through an innovative initiative.
