Drones are being used by several government departments, organisations and companies in the Cayman Islands for a variety of purposes, from law enforcement to monitoring the health of Cayman’s reefs to keeping an eye on baby booby birds.

Through the YMCA’s “Discovery with Drones” program, students from Sir John A. Cumber Primary School flew a drone for the first time this week.

A drone-inspired program designed to educate and raise awareness of technology is being offered this month by YMCA Cayman.

A surveillance drone at HMP Northward April 13 spotted two men leaving the area near the prison, where guards quickly found “a large quantity of ganja” that had been thrown over the fence, according to prison officials.
