The Cayman Islands branch of the British Red Cross will take donations to help the victims of Sunday’s devastating tsunamis in Asia.
Jondo Obi, the Cayman Islands branch director of the British Red Cross said the branch will do what it can.
‘It’s difficult for us right now because we’re still trying to recover from Hurricane Ivan ourselves,’ she said. ‘We are physically closed right now for repairs, so it’s hard to organize a relief effort.’
She said that the local branch’s current state would not prevent it from taking donations from residents that wish to help those affected by the Asian tsunamis. ‘Obviously, the British Red Cross will be having a fund,’ she said. ‘Whatever we collect, we will pass on to them.’
