In celebration of Cayman Airways’ new direct service from Boston’s Logan International Airport to Grand Cayman, members of the Ministry of Tourism, Department of Tourism and representatives from Cayman Airways were in Boston recently hosting various events to promote the destination and support the four-hour flight.
As part of the weekend festivities, the Department of Tourism hosted a special Sea School session with SpongeBob SquarePants at the Boston Public Library.
This highly anticipated two hour, fun filled morning was attended by 25 Bostonian children and their parents in the Library’s Mezzanine Conference, which was transformed into an underwater playground with scenes from the Cayman Islands.
The session introduced the children to the underwater treasures of Cayman through the use of vivid photography of coral reefs, fish and other marine life.
At the conclusion of the programme SpongeBob himself made an appearance and presented each child with an official Sea Adventurer Certificate.
‘The Sea School was a huge success and the kids enjoyed learning about the Cayman Islands. After the programme it was great to see how enthusiastic the children and their parents spoke about the destination and of course meeting SpongeBob,’ said Patrice Donalds from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
