The Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital has announced that Dr. Michelle Mon Désir MBBS has joined their team of Family Physicians.
Dr. Mon Désir got her first taste of working at the CTMH during the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, when she volunteered her services to assist with the influx of injured patients. ‘I’m very glad I was there. If I had been at home I would just have been thinking about how I could be helping,’ said Dr. Mon Désir.
Dr. Mon Désir graduated from the University of the West Indies Medical School, Trinidad in 2002 and completed her Internship in Paediatrics, Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics/Gynaecology at the Princess Margaret Hospital Nassau, Bahamas. Before coming to Cayman in June 2004, Dr Mon Désir practised Obstetrics/Gynaecology and Accident and Emergency Medicine at the University Hospital Jamaica.
‘I am delighted that Dr. Mon Désir has joined our team,’ said hospital owner Dr. Steve Tomlinson. ‘She demonstrated her professionalism and compassion when she worked tirelessly assisting patients during those initial days following the hurricane. She will be a great asset to the community and I look forward to working with her.’
Dr. Mon Désir has joined her husband in Cayman who has been working as Crown Counsel for the past three years. The couple have an 18- month old daughter named Arielle.
