Ob-gyn to open private practice

Dr. Howard Deosaran has left the Cayman Islands Hospital to establish a private practice in Cayman.

The former head of gynecology and obstetrics at the hospital said it was time for a change. Along with a busy medical career, he is pursuing a law degree on a part-time basis.

‘Juggling time between (the hospital) and school was difficult. This will give me the freedom to set my own hours and to do what I want to do.’

TrinCay Medical Services is set to open on Friday. The office is in Suite 9 at Alexandra Place in Industrial Park.

The Trinidad-born physician will offer general obstetric and gynecology services, fertility management, ultra-sounds and minor surgeries. Lab facilities will be on site, with its services available to other physicians as well. The clinic will employ a lab technician, office manager and nurse.

TrinCay Medical Services will be open from 8am to 5pm weekdays, with extended hours until 7pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and from 8:30am to 1pm. on Saturdays.

Dr. Deosaran has been practicing for 11 years. He moved to Cayman three years ago to take up the post at the hospital. His wife, Dr. Elizabeth McLaughlin, is an emergency physician at the hospital.

Dr. Deosaran will continue working with the Women’s Resource Centre, offering informational lectures on women’s health issues.

A graduate of the University of Pecs Medical School in Hungary, Dr. Deosaran completed his specialty in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of West Indies in Jamaica and his sub-specialty in endoscopic surgery in Antwerp, Belgium.
