Remember the elderly

We who kept the home fire burning during the days, we who were here at the beginning of this great success called Cayman, we who fought for this, our country; we are drowning and no lifeline is being thrown to us.

The Minister of Health promised us and our wives would be taken care of medically. It has been stated in front of many audiences many times.

We were told that our medical would be taken care of and if the hospital could not take care of us we would be sent away for medical care, however, this was retracted by the Minister’s department; to be exact his second in command sent out a letter.

We would have to put up our home or what little else we have to be attended to, however, some one who is indigent would be given this care free. Therefore, if we are to get this privilege we would have to declare ourselves indigent.

Please don’t take away the little pride we have left.

We do contribute as much as we are able to. Many of us live on the $400 we get.

Not many of us are able to work seeing that we are up in age.

We are a dying breed so it will not be long before you will not have to worry about us.

The letter that retracted this health service can be seen at any Seaman or Vet organization.

Please don’t forget that we are a voting body still. We are your fathers and mothers and we are your family.

We can only hope the Minister is listening.
