Rooster Shootout is on target

The Rooster Shootout Fishing tournament will take place as scheduled in 2005.

Tournament organizers encourage all 53 anglers from last year to compete again, and welcome any new competitors to join as well.

All events planned for the Rooster Shootout will take place between 6-13 April.

Fishing dates for the Rooster Shootout will be Friday through Sunday, April 8th, 9th and 10th.

Prizes for the Rooster Shootout are as follows:

$2,000 each for the heaviest Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna, and Dolphin, 2nd place will be awarded

$1,000 each and 3rd place will receive $500 per category.

There will be no prize for Blue Marlin this year and the Tournament encourages the release of this species.

‘Despite the hardships we’ve endured, Rooster 101 feels it is in the best interest of the community to continue with our flagship event,’ organizer Nicole Lalum said. ‘Rooster 101 and the Tournament committee are determined to make this event as good, if not better, than last year’s.’

The Rooster Shootout will have an entry fee of CI$500 per boat, including a captain and up to three anglers.

Additional persons in each boat will be CI$200 and to encourage Junior Angler participation those 14 years and younger may compete for free.

Registration for the tournament will take place on Wednesday 6 April at the Hard Rock Cafe.
