Two charged in Brac ganja

A Cayman Brac resident appeared in Summary Court on Wednesday charged with importation of a controlled drug.

Dençle Vic Barnes, 35, is accused of importing approximately 250 pounds of ganja into Cayman Brac on 24 February.

Crown Counsel Andre Mon Desir told the court that a co-accused has also been charged. However, no other defendant was brought to court at this time.

Defence Attorney Laurance Aiolfi said the evidence against his client was tenuous and he applied for bail.

Magistrate Margaret Ramsay-Hale withheld bail and adjourned the matter until 16 March.

It was not clear whether the case will be heard in Grand Cayman or Cayman Brac.
