Many people love a day at the beach and on Sunday. 1 May, it will be even more fun than usual, according to organisers of an upcoming sea race.
The second event in the week of Carnival here in Grand Cayman will be the Cable & Wireless Broadband Poker Run. Starting at noon, the public is invited to come to Royal Palms and watch as jet skis and boats battle it out for a top prize of $1,000.
‘In true, larger than life Carnival style, this beach fete in Cayman is growing and will include the much anticipated race events plus some additional ones that will keep families, visitors and fans of all ages entertained the whole afternoon,’ said a spokesperson.
Whether you want to party, put your athletic skills to the test or just spend time with your family, this sun, sea and sand day has something for everyone-adults, teens and kids, an organiser said.
While the contenders are battling it out on the open seas, there will be plenty of entertainment for the spectators on the beach. An exclusive sneak preview is planned for this year featuring Batabano 2005 costumes modelled by some of Cayman’s ‘prettiest ladies’. And it all will be set to the Caribbean’s 2005 ‘hottest soca music spun by the Islands’ best DJs’. Add refreshments, food and lots of activities for the kids, including bouncy castles, games and prizes – and it’s a can’t miss event, says an organiser.
So riders rev your engines and spectators prepare for a busy afternoon at the beach.
