Airport upgrading parking systems

The Cayman Islands Airports Authority has announced that works are commencing to upgrade the revenue parking systems at Owen Roberts International Airport.

A press release from the CIAA says the authority has purchased state-of-the-industry revenue equipment for the short- and long-term parking lots at the airport.

‘The new system will consist of new ticket dispensers, validation machines and two automatic pay stations, also known as ‘pay-on-foot’ stations, at which all payment functions are automated. Instructions will be placed on the pay stations in order to guide users through the payment process,’ says the release.

Preparatory works have commenced and will include the demolition of the collection booth, trenching works and the installation of sensory loops in the entrance and exit lanes of the parking lots. The system is supposed to be fully operational within the next month, at which time the public will be provided with more detailed information on its use.
