Chuck Fenda returns to Cayman

Dancehall artist Chuck Fenda will be in Cayman for a live concert on Friday, 3 June.

Fenda, born in Brooklyn, NY, on 15 June 1972, has always had a love for music. In preparing for a career in music, the artist, christened Leshorn Whiteread, used to imitate some of his favourite entertainers, according to Reggaecarifest.com.

Frequent trips to King Jammys’ studio in Jamaica helped him hone his skills and it was from King Jammys that he released his debut single, Shut Yuh Mouth When Bad Man Talking.

He followed with The Glue. The two songs so impressed King Jammys that the producer gave him an opportunity to record on his One-drop Money label, the online article contined.

It was just after that that he had his first hit, It’s All About You, a song which climbed to the top of the Jamaican and Caribbean charts.

Soon after his success with It’s All about You, he began recording for several other producers, including Shocking Vibes, on which label he recorded another successful hit, Fat Round Yah.

In 1997 he moved from New York to Jamaica where he settled and has since established himself as a highly rated international dancehall star.

Some of his most popular releases are: Life Ruff Out Deh, (a revolutionary, social commentary), Better Days, Prayer, Can’t Stop Try, Respect Mama, Stick To One Man, and Watching Me.

Appearing with Chuck Fenda at the concert, to be held in the Country & Western parking lot, are Spanna Banna, Richie Spice, Anthony Cruz, Pliers and Notch out of Jamaica, and Cayman’s own rising star, Blackface.
