Dining in an elegant Chinese setting, diners heard from guest speaker, Jamaican Jacqueline Morris.

Challenging Lion members to support the evening’s theme, Mrs. Morris said: ‘Many of us as service club members say we are committed, but sometimes we do not seem to be as involved as we should.

‘I challenge you to look to the future with open, perceptive eyes and see the possibilities, the seeming impossibilities, the opportunities and the strengths.

‘It is on this note that I join with you in your open-minded realistic glance into the future.

‘And as we gaze together at the days, weeks and months that stretch before us I would like to guide you to focus on three aspects: self discovery, sacrifice and service to others.

‘Commit, to give of yourselves sacrificially and to focus open-mindedly on serving others in the community,’ she said.

Incoming President Walton Gooding said he wanted to pay more attention to youth, rebuilding the Lions Centre and getting back to serious fundraising.

He said he planed to be fair, open-minded and decisive at all times, to work willingly with other service clubs and show the community how they cared.
