Salaries under review

Government intends to carry out a review of civil servants’ salaries, Legislative Assembly heard.

‘It is recognised that the last such review took place in 1997 and it is appropriate to review any anomalies and disparities which may have arisen since then,’ Chief Secretary George McCarthy told the House on Wednesday.

Mr. McCarthy was replying to a question from Sister Islands MLA Julianna O’Connor-Connolly.

He pointed out however that the government’s focus was presently on the wider community needs and on infrastructure replacement.
