Caribbean Utilities Company issued a statement Thursday afternoon urging customers to make preparations for potential disruption of electricity service, which may result from Hurricane Dennis if it continues to approach our area late this evening.
Disruption of service could occur in isolated areas from high winds, or island wide due to an orderly system-wide shutdown by the CUC if it becomes necessary in the interest of public safety.
In both cases power may not be restored for an extended period of time because CUC linemen might not be able to conduct repairs until winds have subsided to a safe level.
CUC will continue to monitor the storm’s progress and will advise customers of any potential system shutdown as soon as possible.
Customers are advised to call CUC’s Fault Reporting Hotline at 945-1CUC (1282) to report outages or 911 to report downed power lines.
