Police Advisory – Water Craft

HURRICANE ADVISORY FOR WATER CRAFT

In preparation for Hurricane Dennis, the Royal Cayman Islands Marine Unit would like to issue the following advice.

All vessel owners and other persons with an interest in boats and water craft are asked to make preparations to secure vessels in the event that a hurricane warning is put into effect.

Persons are asked to take Safe Harbour. Do not try to weather the storm on your vessel to save it.

Put it in the appropriate safe place.

Vessels should be taken out of the water and stored on a trailer with the tyres flattened. This prevents the trailer rolling around in high winds and may decrease the chances of further damage to the vessel.

Please heed warnings with regard to storm surge and strong currents.

Make preparations as soon as possible to secure all vessels.
