Marsh clients donate to recovery fund

Clients of Marsh Management Service Cayman Ltd. continue to support the local community with donations to the hurricane Ivan recovery effort and other community activities.

The latest donations – cheques totaling US$11,000 – were presented to the National Recovery Fund by Seamus Tivnan, Managing Director of Marsh Management, on behalf of its clients Middlebury Assurance Company, Ltd., Signature Insurance Company, Ltd. and McLaren Insurance Company. The three are captive insurance companies.

Mr. Tivnan commented that these are just three of the companies who have donated funds to the National Recovery Fund or allotted funds directly to Marsh Cayman for the company to distribute as it sees fit.

More than US$100,000 have been donated by companies managed by Marsh, and Mr. Tivnan estimates that several hundred thousand dollars in total have been contributed industry-wide. He noted that the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman, intends to publish a summary of all contributions made by captive licencees.

Accepting the donation on behalf of the Fund, Executive Director, Dr. Mark Laskin, praised the efforts of Marsh Management Services in representing the needs of the Cayman community to their clients and acting on their behalf in making funds available to the recovery effort.

‘We cannot over-emphasize the importance of every donation, particular as we step up our efforts to repair houses during what looks like an active 2005 hurricane season,’ Dr. Laskin noted.
