Trevor Hawes, a leading authority in the UK on teaching and learning, will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming Private Schools’ Association professional development conference.
Running 29-30 August, the two-day conference will bring together representatives from all the private schools on the island. It takes place at Cayman Prep and High School, with opening ceremonies set for 9am on 29 August.
Mr. Hawes, a motivational lecturer who has visited Cayman several times, uses the latest neuro-scientific research to explain how the brain learns and how teachers can construct ‘brain-friendly’ lessons, said a press release from the association. He is in great demand internationally, having worked with more than 30,000 teachers in the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Mr. Hawes will also meet with parents during a presentation 29 August at 7.30pm at the Cayman Prep school hall. The general public is also welcome to attend the session. A $10 donation at the door is suggested.
The Private Schools’ Association meets regularly to discuss matters of common concern, pool and professional expertise and promote inter-school activities.
