Re: your front page story of August 4th. Bush: We are at war.
This statement has been made throughout history. I’m afraid Mr. Bush is wrong. It is he who is at war, not the American people. The war in Iraq was never sanctioned by citizens of the United States but it is they who are paying the price. All of the mothers and fathers, wives and sweethearts of those killed in the name of democracy. “Friendly fire”, “collateral damage”, “we are at war”, all of those terms are used to explain and justify a misguided attempt at something only Mr. Bush and his cronies understand, while those left behind understand only sorrow.
There will be no end to this war or any war as long as the puppeteers of the military and marionettes such as George Bush continue to wage it. From the outset it was obvious Mr. Bush wanted to be a war time president. One look in his eyes should convince anyone this is not a man who could or want to create Peace, for just like his father the ex-head of the CIA he knows it isn’t in the best interests of big oil. And oil is what it’s about.
Does anyone need a map? But of course remember we are at war. The Arab Oil Crisis was a fabrication, as is this war. The United States government has stomped around the planet with guns blazing for decades and supported the world’s worst dictators and abusers of human rights, while untold numbers have suffered whilst being saved, from Vietnam to Pinochet to China. The American people I am sure want peace, but they won’t find it as long as their leaders are controlled by special interests on Wall Street and the Pentagon.
America is not at war. George Bush is at war, Exxon is at war, Texaco is at war, and British Petroleum is at war. The Vietnam War was about controlling the Golden Triangle; this one is about controlling oil. The only reason for this war is so someone can drive their SUV to the mall.
My condolences to the families both in America and Iraq.
Wage peace
