A bed-restricted cancer patient now has access to digital television, thanks to WestStar TV Ltd.
The company donated digital cable television service to the 67-year-old Caymanian woman from Northward who, due to the severity of her illness, is unable to leave her bedroom.
After receiving a donation from David Jamison, manager of insurance adjuster AXIS (Cayman) Ltd., the Cayman Islands Cancer Society purchased a 27-inch television for the woman but unfortunately the house did not have television service.
The Society contacted WestStar for assistance and the company promptly came to the rescue, installing an antenna and cable box to provide local and international programming with 35 digital television channels and 45 music channels.
‘When we heard about the lady’s illness and the fact she was bed restricted we were eager to lend a hand,’ said WestStar Operations Manager Richard Corbin. ‘It is a small way we can help but hopefully it will make a big difference.’
The Cancer Society’s Joanne Diaz-Berry said the gift is much appreciated.
‘The donation from AXIS and the service being provided by WestStar will go a long way towards improving the quality of life of this particular cancer patient.’
