Art Flix features Chagall abstracts

The colourful work of Russian master artist Marc Chagall is being featured by the National Gallery tonight (21 September) at 5.30pm, the latest in the monthly Art Flix series highlighting 20th century artists.

Chagall’s artwork combines recollections of the Russian village in which he grew up, with folklore and fantasy. He was influenced by the Cubist, Fauvist and Surrealist art styles.

Born in Russia in 1887, Chagall moved to France in 1923 where, excluding an eight year stay in the US, he lived until his death in 1985.

The free, informal Art Flix presentation includes colourful illustrations, live narratives by Gallery staff and a discussion period.
