It is unlikely Cayman Airways will ever become a low cost carrier, Minister Charles Clifford told the Cabinet press briefing.
On Friday Mr. Clifford responded to questions about Cayman’s national carrier and Spirit – the airline due to start a service to here early next year.
In answer to a question about how long Cayman Airways could maintain the low fares it was now offering, Mr. Clifford said they would have to see what happened.
It is possible the volume would increase with the lower fares and so the revenue would increase, he said.
Cayman will have to contend with the low cost carriers as others have, he told the briefing.
He also said he expects Spirit will benefit the Sister Islands as some of their passengers coming here may want to make onward connections there.
