Some of the ups and downs in the use of the post-Hurricane Ivan Health Services Authority were outlined at the Cabinet press briefing.
Admissions were up by 14 per cent over last year and use of radiology services had increased by 27 per cent, said Minister Anthony Eden.
And, with heightened education and awareness, there had been a 116 per cent increase in the number of patients doing mammograms, he told the Friday briefing.
Declines in service levels had been noted in specialist clinics and other areas such as district health centres, but were not unusual due to the post-Ivan situation, he said.
‘Indications are that patient utilisation is on the increase and in some of these areas utilisation could surpass 2004 levels by the end of the year,’ said Mr. Eden.
