Drury wins final Fidelity run

The Fidelity Fall 2005 Fun Run Series came to a close last Saturday. Despite pre-race showers and threatening skies, 86 participants, including 23 first-timers, braved the damp conditions.

A glimpse into the past was provided by Paul Drury, now an Atlanta resident, but a dominant force on the Cayman running/triathlon scene during the several years he lived here. Paul showed that the fires of competition still burn strongly, as he strode to a convincing victory in the final 2-mile offering of the series.

He was basically unchallenged as he finished first in a time of 10:39.Mike McDonald and J.P. Hanekom continued their close-knit rivalry with Mike just taking the runnerup spot , on this occasion posting an 11:07 to J.P.’s 11:08.

Shalaina Kelly made it three in a row in the ladies division, clocking 11:26, with Marion Pandohie taking second place ladies honours in 12:51. Anne Scaife proved last week’s third place finish was no fluke, as she repeated that performance position in a time of 13:39.

Age group winners in week three were Ashleigh Nalty, Jorel Bellafonte, Arron McLaughlin, Maxwell Hyman, Eugene Bonthuys, Shizuka Mitsumizo, Derek Larner, Anne Lichtenwalner, Max Obrist, Mavis Davies, and Oger Davies, as well as Tom Gammage in the pram division.
