Nominations double for leadership awards

Nominations for the 2006 Young Caymanian Leadership Awards have more than doubled from last year.

‘Such a huge increase in participation proves that the YCLA programme continues to grow and receive support from the community,’ Melissa Wolfe, Young Caymanian Leadership Foundation Coordinator, said in a press release.

‘In addition, the corporate sector has come forward and nominated staff members for the YCLA. In many instances, partners, owners or managing directors themselves have taken the time to submit the nomination.’

The YCLA nomination process ran for the month of October. It took the first two weeks of November to sort and organise the huge stack of nominations and prepare the information to be presented to the YCLA nomination sub-committee, the release said.

The next step in the process is deciding on the five finalists for the 2006 YCLA. Organisers said the names will be announced in January, with the gala awards event slated for March. The exact date of the 2006 event will be announced in the coming weeks.

Now in its sixth year, the annual YCLA has been presented to a sell-out audience of Cayman’s top business leaders. The gala night includes a champagne reception, sit down dinner, live entertainment, show broadcast on Cayman27, special keynote speaker, videos on the finalists and an impressive atmosphere, the release said.
