Rock star Sheryl Crow is to perform at an international media gala opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman on 7 January, the luxury resort has confirmed.
The mainstream rocker is famous for the singles ‘If It Makes You Happy’, ‘Everyday Is a Winding Road’ and ‘A Change Would Do You Good’.
Security will be extremely tight for the event, which will comprise a welcome reception and concert that will take place on property.
Communications Director for The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Melissa Perkins pointed out that no tickets are on sale for this event and it will not be broadcast to the public. It is strictly a private event.
Along with a large group from the top international media, a certain number of local people closely connected to the Ritz Carlton project will be given special invitations to the unique event.
When asked if Ms Crow’s celebrity fiancé Lance Armstrong would be coming to Grand Cayman with the rock star, Ms Perkins said this could neither be confirmed nor denied as they cannot speak about guests. Lance Armstrong is most famous for recovering from testicular cancer to subsequently win the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times, from 1999 to 2005.
However, the real opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman takes place Thursday, 15 December, at 10am, when a ceremonial ribbon cutting takes place. Participating in the formalities will be members of Government, representatives of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, including developer Michael Ryan and Vice President and General Manager Jean Cohen, and the new Governor Stuart Jack. The ceremonial opening, which will also be an invite-only event, will involve a reception and tours of the new hotel.
Afterwards, at noon, the hotel will be open for business.
‘We’re excited and delighted to welcome the ladies and gentlemen of Cayman to find a new home away from home at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman,’ said Vice President and General Manager Jean Cohen.
