Governor Jack pleasantly surprised

Since his arrival in late November, two things have already impressed the Governor, Mr. Stuart Jack, regarding the warm people of the Cayman Islands.

He said he knew about one in advance but that the other was a complete surprise.

‘People are reasonably straight-talking,’ he said, regarding his conversations with those he has met so far. ‘I find that very useful.

‘However, a very pleasant discovery is that people here also have a sense of humour,’ he added, even though he could not understand as yet all the jocular comments with their topical nuances.

‘Nothing is worse than being in a place where no one ever laughs,’ the Governor remarked.

According to a GIS release, he made the comments during his visit to the Law Courts.
